Welcome to Emma's Aromatherapy
I am a qualified aromatherapist, registered with the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA).
Aromatherapy is the controlled use of essential oils by different methods to enhance the well-being of the mind, body and spirit. Essential oils are highly fragrant and are extracted from flowers, leaves,
twigs, bark, roots and fruits of many common plants. The essential oils have many different properties and as research has shown, can be stimulating, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, relaxing, calming, soothing and uplifting. Aromatherapy, therefore, has
the ability to affect the emotions, promote bodily well-being and balance psychologically.
Aromatherapy is beneficial to most people in most circumstances. Essential oils must be diluted and used with care, preferably under the guidance of a qualified IFPA aromatherapist. When used correctly
and by a qualified IFPA aromatherapist, aromatherapy can be effective for a wide client group.

A common method of using aromatherapy is through massage. The client receives benefit from both the massage itself and the essential oils, which are absorbed through the skin. I will carry out a consultation with you and then
make a personalised blend of essential oils in a plain massage oil base to suit your situation. This will then be used in either a back or full body massage.
Aromatherapy massage can be used to treat physical and emotional problems, and to maintain well-being. It can also simply be a wonderful fragrant treat!
I have a selection of well over 30 professional quality essential oils from which I will select between 2 and 4 to make your blend at each visit. You can sample them before use and discuss them with me. You can have a new blend
every time, or you can establish favourites.
Some of my favourites include:
Lavender - a very well known fragrance, in its essential oil form is wonderfully calming and relaxing
Bergamot - another quite common fragrance, whose essential oil has uplifting and cheering properties
Lemongrass - this fresh smelling oil is anti-septic and astringent, but is also good for balancing the emotions and relieving stress
Black Pepper - as an essential oil black pepper is excellent for aches and pains, and a massage using black pepper can also ease digestive problems
Geranium - sweet and flowery and incredibly useful, being anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic!
